Project Love: Matchmaker was initially a simple trivia fact (see BACKSTORY below). As of now, it is now being turned into a game for my (Krys) personal project! I plan to have a short 15-minuteish demo out by early April 2025.

BACKSTORY

Project Love: Matchmaker was originally a simple trivia fact about Tatsuya Chika where she was the Minikui High School's "matchmaker". She would get paid to try to set up fellow students with each other; like for example, Shidou Yoru and Tatsuya Rina. At first, it was simply a joke. Mikoto Anata had paid a hefty 1 dollar for Chika to make Rina and Yoru fall in love, or say try to make them realize they were in love with each other. This jumpstarted Chika's career into her becoming the school's personal matchmaker, giving advice on flirting, dating, breakups, etc. Although she does not get paid much for it, she enjoys her job in helping others find their one true love.

CONCEPTS

ConcerProject Love: Matchmaker is based off my friends (SAGGERS INC.) and I's (Krys) co-owned original characters and universe. We originally made them up for fun, but we soon got attached. As of now, the Minikuniverse (as I personally call it) is a large universe of students ranging from first year high school students to fourth year university students in our made-up Japan district: Minikui! You can see more information about our original characters and universe here, in our National Archives!For starters, Tatsuya Chika, also known as Chi-Chi or Chi-Chan in the story, is our first generation students. First generation meaning first set of characters we made. Our second generation students are called CHORD*IA, named after their band name since they're a band. Our first generation students do not have a particular name to call them by, so they are just known as our first-gens.

The idea of the game was inspired by various games like Project Kat/Paper Lily by Leef 6010, OMORI by OMOCAT, and namely Kitty Powers' Matchmaker by Magic Notion. I wanted to have an RPG-esque feeling like Project Kat/Paper Lily and OMORI where you control a characters (party) and stats/qualities like damage. I am mainly inspired by Kitty Powers' Matchmaker for its matchmaker mechanics.
I decided to create the game in the game engine Godot for being beginner-friendly and versatile. (Though, as of now, I have not started on the demo because I am still game planning. So, I am thinking of creating the demo on one of the RPG Maker engines since I have a fairly OK understanding of it)
